This Week at Political Nexus: April 30 - May 6

The week beginning April 30, 2007 promises to be a big week here at Political Nexus, with a new FrameWork show on Monday the 30th, where thereisnospoon and clammyc discuss "Strength in the War on Terror".

**************************
We will also be recording a new Don't Hijack My Thread! show on Wednesday, May 2 at our new time, 8PM EDT/5PM PDT.

This week's topics are as follows:
  • Immigration - real reform or more talk?
  • Rudy Giuliani's "tough talk"
  • Diplomacy Hypocrisy - Condi Rice's meeting with Syria and (possibly) Iran
  • William F. Buckley - does he now hate America too?
  • The latest Republican sex scandal
  • Prince Harry goes to Iraq
***************************

We are also very excited to announce the start of our third regular show, "10 Minutes With...", where we spend 10 minutes getting to know a bit more about some of the biggest and brightest voices in the progressive political blogosphere. We have a number of these lined up and will be rolling them out along with our regular weekly programming.

Our initial show will feature Brian Keeler (NYBri), who is a blog hero of the left. Brian has started not one, not two but three community blogs, including Political Nexus co-founder ePluribus Media, as well as The Albany Project (which is focused on New York politics).

Brian also ran for state Senate in 2006 - making him the first true member of the blogosphere to run for major political office. Our first installment of "10 Minutes With...", featuring NYBri will air live at 7:30 PM EDT on Thursday May 3 and will be available here shortly thereafter.

Lastly, there are new links on the right side of the site - these will take you to the archived and older shows for FrameWork, Don't Hijack My Thread! and 10 Minutes With...

FrameWork: What's Right, What's Legal, and What You Can Get Away With

The Bush Administration has certainly made a name for themselves when it comes to pushing the envelope, but we seem to be moving beyond the era of "whatever you can get away" to the new, uncharted territory of "anything but gross illegality."

Resident commentators and framers David Atkins(thereisnospoon) and Adam Lambert (clammyc)discuss how morals, law and expectations intersect and what Democrats can do to draw distinctions that will resonate with voters.

FrameWork: Sorting Out the Supplemental

With Congressional Dems and the President lobbing words from their proverbial lines in the sand and Obama coming out to claim he won't play "chicken with the troops," it's time for some clarity on the framing behind the supplemental spending bill.

FrameWork's clammy c and thereisnospoon cut through the nebulous doublespeak to offer insight into the framing that should be used when discussing Iraq funding.

Want to Call Into Don't Hijack My Thread!?!

Don't Hijack My Thread! will be recording another live show this week and we need callers. Think you have what it takes to sit on hold for upwards of five minutes for a few moments of radio obscurity and acute political observation?

The show is scheduled to tape Wednesday, 6:00 PM (EST), though times are subject to change and update, of course! We are still in BETA testing, after all...

For those interested in calling in, the number is: (718) 508-9410

Don't Hijack My Thread is produced with ePluribus Radio, and the site is http://www.blogtalkradio.com/epradio

You can stream the show live as it airs or download it an hour after air time.

TIPS FOR CALLERS:

  • Please turn the radio off in the background when you go on air
  • We can't screen callers or talk to you off-air, so be ready to state your name or blogger handle when we suddenly throw you live, on air with clammy c and the gang!
  • Speak LOUD and CLEAR. We are severely limited in terms of our ability to control sound volume and even audio quality. We are looking into ways of increasing production values
  • Familiarize yourself with our format and foibles by taking a listen to last week's show, linked in a previous Don't Hijack My Thread! post. Just click the media player embedded for your convenience--you don't have to download ANYTHING.

Happy Tax Day!

Thanks for bringing us the Internet!
